    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The course gives the student and overview of the basics of Microbiology and its application in the real world. If the student is interested in a health care field or a science based research field, then this course provides good insight as to what to expect in those careers.

    Course highlights:

I think the highlight of the course was being able to do experiments to test and identify bacteria. This course was very hands on. We were performing experiments almost every week. Being able to actually do staining techniques instead of just watching others do it really does make understanding and learning the topic much easier.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you read the textbook, and understand the material you are reading. If something doesn't make sense, ask questions or go to tutorials. This is a very intensive course so make sure you are staying on top of your work.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course. Not only is fun but it is an eye opener to the smaller world in the big world that we live in.

    Course highlights:

Wearing aguar plates on our arms to see how much bacteria we gain in a day.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Focus. Study. Make flashcards. Read the chapter not only before she gives them to you but after as well.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Microbiology is probably the most interesting course I have taken so far, only because you learn all about bacteria and what diseases are made up of. It may not be an essential course to take, but it definitely alters the way you see the world.

    Course highlights:

We did so many labs on bacteria in this course, and they were very thorough. I learned how cancer and several diseases are caused. What we learn in this course it exactly what is needed in order to study and prevent diseases, like the CDC does. I find that extremely awesome and fun. You gain so much knowledge about simple bacteria and you feel good after taking this course. And the course is not very difficult.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would just give the advice to have fun if you're taking this course because it's not a required course, so why not have fun with it? It's fun to go back to your friends and family and tell them everything you know about how bacteria is formed and possible cures for diseases based on your knowledge about bacteria.
