Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course because it is a great introduction to the sciences! It is a very good place to start and my professor uses a useful teaching method where the class room is kind of flipped, which personally helps me push myself harder. There are plenty of interesting topics and information to learn in this course and I have not come across anything that I considered boring.

    Course highlights:

One highlight of this course for me was the study of Mendelian Genetics and how character traits were expressed. Evolution was also an interesting highlight, to see how different organisms change over time and adapt these traits that make them better suited for their environment.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Though the professor covers topics well in class, you are required to read! Reading is an important aspect and, because there is a lot of information to take in, students must manage and make time to do the correct amount of studies. Every little assignment and quiz counts! Treat them accordingly and thoroughly complete all assignments, presentations, quizzes and exams accordingly. The professor is always there to help you so it is very important that students take that advantage.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Great course that challenges students to think outside of what they learned in high school.

    Course highlights:

This course prepares students to be confident in their work.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

This course is a flipped classroom style. If you get behind just talk to your professor and use your resources.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I love Dr. Dutton, she is so sweet and she helped me through my mid-year crisis about whether biology is for me. However, I dislike the set-up of the class. Most of the knowledge that we are tested on is in pre-recorded lectures online (that is sometimes wrong) and we are expected to review this out of class. In class, we go over things more geared towards having a career in science; how to make a graph, p-values, etc.

    Course highlights:

I never took biology before this, so I was really worried about how this would be. It turns out this course was actually quite adept at teaching the basics of biology, and despite how much information I felt that I crammed into my brain, I seem to have been able to remember it.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

This course is a lot of work; be prepared for that. Personally, I memorize better by taking notes and then typing and color-coding them, so if that might help you, I certainly recommend it. Also, find out who made a good grade on the first test, and then for a study group with them; they will be very helpful.
