Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course to those students who are interested in science and would like to learn more about the inner workings of all organisms on Earth. This class is very demanding, as the content can be difficult to understand at times and a lot to try to comprehend at one time, but as long as a student puts in the right amount of work, uses their resources, and works hard to understand the content, the course should be very fun and interesting to the student.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were most definitely the labs. The labs helped me to better understand the content of each unit by providing a hands-on example. In addition, I was able to perfect and enhance my science writing, so that by the end of the course, I was able to write a concise and effective conclusion to a lab report.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise students who are considering taking this course to invest in online resources, such as Bioflix and others. These will provide videos on the different biological processes and concepts covered in the course, and may outline the processes in a way that is easier to understand.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Taking a college course in high school may seem frightening, and AP Biology was definitely difficult, but it was also fun, diverse, and interactive. Each class consisted of a lecture, but a few times a month, we conducted experiments and labs, including multiple dissections.

    Course highlights:

This entire course was compelling, but there were certain units that sparked others interests as well as my own. The human anatomy unit was my favorite because during this time, my class performed five dissections, which entirely changed my knowledge and view on that unit. The dissections and other hands on activities helped to expand my knowledge by not only showing me real world examples and diagrams of anatomy but also by forcing me to do something I had not been interested in.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't be afraid of AP Biology because it is a college level course. This course was fun and interactive and it truly expanded the ways in which I learn and view new material. However, this does not mean that you should treat it as you do your other classes. You must work hard and study extra hard, but once your AP exam grade comes in July, all of the hours you put into this class will be worth it.
