Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

AP Biology was a great starting point for pursuing any specific path in the life sciences. I definitely recommend this course even if you don't plan on majoring in biology because the information you learn will come in handy if you ever pick up a science article, walk into a lab environment, or even decide to get into the trapping virus and cancer debates. This course gives you a wealth of background knowledge and even launch you into career paths varying from forensic scientist to nutritionist.

    Course highlights:

AP Biology details biochemistry, and touches a bit on organic chemistry as well. From there, we tackled cells, the cell cycle, and genetics, which I can safely say was my favorite part of the course. Using probability to solve forensics problems combined my love for statistics and crime investigation. From there, we analyzed Darwin's theory of evolution, and even had time to explore the growing field of ecology. We didn't have much time for anatomy but our exploration of the immune system definitely made me more skeptical whenever I enter a pharmacy.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Biology is a multi-disciplinary science that combines subjects like chemistry, physics, statistics, environmental sciences, and even a bit of history. Don't be afraid to consult your textbook (its size shouldn't be daunting!) or your teacher. Khan Academy is always a great resource for explanations that can be replayed as many times as needed. This class can definitely be an inspiration for future potential career choices, so always be thinking of which topics you found most interesting!
