    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is great if you want to learn more about coding and Java language. It is definitely not a class you can sleep through but it is a very fun challenging course. I felt thoroughly prepared for the AP test in the Spring because I read the textbook. We had coding labs that were enjoyable because you could apply what you learned.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to code basic Java. With both the help of the textbook provided and the teacher I felt like I understood Java and its basic principles as well as how to apply it to programs in the real world. My favorite parts of the course were the coding labs because you had to start from scratch and code a program to do certain tasks. There were also competitions we attended that allowed me to compete against others by coding and they were enjoyable as well.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Never fall asleep in class because many students complained it was boring, fell asleep, then failed miserably. Always read the chapter for the unit pertaining to class lectures. The textbook is very helpful and does a very good job at explaining concepts and giving examples. Ask the teacher and come to tutorials because Ms. Horton always made herself available for help.
