Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is challenging in so many ways, but the teacher constantly makes an effort to help in any way that she can and makes learning fun! This class became my favorite from the minute I sat in my seat that first day of school, and I can't imagine trying to conquer this difficult class without a teacher as understanding and supportive as Mr. Russell.

    Course highlights:

One of my favorite things that we did in this class was the American Identity project. In this project, we had to define what the American Identity was to us; this project really stretched all of the students in our creativity, independent studies, and allowed us to apply all that we had learned throughout the semester into a single project.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you don't like reading, putting in extra hours outside of class, and having to be creative in your studies: this is NOT the class for you. This class will be challenging, but it isn't impossible. You will have to do lots of group projects and you must be able to stretch yourself.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

If you have taken an AP class prior to your junior year this is the history class for you! While challenging enough to not be boring, but easy enough to be manageable, APUSH is a nicely balanced class. This class is focused on broad themes and not detail oriented. Understanding concepts is most important. Mr. Walker prepared us very well for the AP exam. Highly recommended!

    Course highlights:

I gained college credit for US history and a good foundation for Government where we discuss the same time periods and why the events that took place affected the government at that time

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you have not taken a previous AP course it will be difficult the first semester. Once you start seeing how things work and how the class flows it will come to you much easier.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I loved Mrs. Witte. She was so much fun and definitely had a passion for US History. She knew lots of quirky facts about the presidents (often contrary to what they tell us in elementary school) which made learning about history quite entertaining.

    Course highlights:

I know a lot more about significant time periods which makes it easier to understand certain references in books or even politics today. I've always hated history but this course was much more interesting than your average class.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you are prepared to read from the textbook almost nightly. You can't really go without reading however the new textbook isn't as dry as previous history books.
