    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It's a hard class but I would recommend it because you have to take that class in college and it is a good entrance course.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were that there were only a few things to learn but within those multiple things there were many sub categories within that got harder and harder along with the course.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to always keep track of your homework so you can keep up your knowledge and practice before the tests.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Hoey, while very close to retirement, is a wonderful teacher who is able to simplify calculus down to easily understandable chunks. If you did well in math up to Algebra 2, you should do well in the class.

    Course highlights:

Hoey is as dry as they come yet his quick wit allows for funny remarks every once in awhile. Also, you will not find a better math teacher at Monterey High.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the work, don't fall asleep, and ask questions if you are struggling to understand a concept. Also, find the juniors or other lower classmen because they are usually much more advanced and can help explain the material too.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Calculus is a complex subject but it involves critical thinking which I found exciting. It challenged my mind, but once I understood basic concepts, I was able to find a pattern with the following lessons. I highly recommend this course for anyone up to the challenge and especially those who enjoyed Algebra.

    Course highlights:

The best part of this course was the teacher. Mr. Hoey goes straight into teaching and does not stray away from the lessons which is crucial when it comes to math. I learned how to find derivatives, the area of a shape rotated around an axis, and the displacement, velocity, position, and acceleration of an object.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

As cliché as this sounds, pay attention. Everything you need to know for the assignments and tests are given in the lesson. Copy down the notes provided, and when the teacher repeats a concept repeatedly, write it down. Before every test, I make one sheet full of review material from the chapter. Even though we cannot use it, it helps me remember formulas and steps to solve a problem when the test comes.
