    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This professor was amazing! She puts her all into the class, truly shows a passion for teaching and growing student's writing skills. She gave many options for writing topics to help appeal to students and would personally meet with students to help develop their papers.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to be more descriptive with my writing. I also learned how to constantly make my paper relate back to thesis which definitely strengthened my writing going forward. She made reading and analyzing stories enjoyable. She knew what questions to ask to get students to think about how to analyze stories on their own, and help them build their own thoughts.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the homework! Her course work may have changed, but she used to require five essays. She prepares you well for each essay and you almost surprise yourself figuring out that writing 5+ pages becomes close to effortless, but time consuming. She grades fairly. Sometimes that can be tough, but she will sit down and walk through your essay to help you improve. It did require quite a bit of work but I feel like I am a much stronger writer after taking her class.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class gave me so many skills, including on how to close read properly, understanding the guide lines for assignments, and how to communicate with my professor all while learning about the world through literature. It is a hard class, but it is worth it.

    Course highlights:

Professor Erney is the best teacher I have ever had. He comes off harsh, but he deeply cares about the students and their ideas.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you take his class, you need to make sure you read the assignments so you can participate and understand what is going on in class. If you know what's going on in class and you pay attention, he basically writes your paper for you.
