Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This science course studies the properties of matter down to the molecular level. I would recommend chemistry because it offers the fundamentals of chem 1 which is useful for a future career path in medicine, research, and other science/ engineering jobs. Most colleges require 5 courses of chemistry, and being able to take Pre-AP chem and AP chem is a great advantage since it gives us an overall start to the science world. Although the class is challenging due to the amount of information and work involved, it is a great help for those who would like to go this route. It is very interesting since there are always new discoveries in the world around us. There is always constant learning that helps us understand the world we live in.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the experiments preformed testing the laws of conservation of mass, gas laws, and other theories of science. Not only did we learn off of books, but we were able to discovery each and every concept hands on. We were able to become scientists right in our school lab. In this course, we elaborated on our basic understanding of the periodic table that we learned from middle school science. This class allowed us to go much more in depth on how the elements we have found on our planet have been arranged according to their atomic structure. Learning about each element even allowed us to create chemical equations to explain some happenings in the world around us. Its very interesting how some elements like carbon, nitrogen, fluorine, chlorine, hydrogen and oxygen are all around us in the air we breathe or even within us.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

It is important to understand the math part of this course. This course does require dedication to reach understanding capacity. I recommend studying everyday even if it is 15 min a day so all the studying time for major exams doesn't feel too overwhelming. Also, it is important to keep organized since there can be many notes or assignments that need to be kept.
