    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is incredibly interesting however, if you liked General Chemistry, you probably won't like Orgo. This class focuses on reactions, synthesis, and parts of a whole. It also takes a lot of time and practice to learn it. If you do not put in the work, you will not make it.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to predict the outcome of reactions when given particular reagents. I learned what reagents do what when reacted with each other or certain molecules. I learned forward and retro-synthesis of molecules and how to complete many different reactions, step by step. Also, I learned how to name amines, ketones, carboxylic acids, etc and how to read a carbon and hydrogen NMR.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Practice really makes perfect when it comes to this class. If you do not practice, you will not make it. This class takes roughly 20 hours of work a week. It also helps to get a study group for this class because what you do not know someone else probably does and you can help each other learn and figure things out together. Study groups are also helpful for this class because if you are putting in the work there will be a lot of late nights and you'll at least have people to keep you company.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Leahy is the most amazing professor I could get for Organic Chemistry as the course has a lot of material often complex. He really cares about his students and explains complicated material in a easy to understand manner. He also has a good sense of humor and reviews his practice exam before an exam.

    Course highlights:

I have successfully understood the content of organic chemistry and I really liked the part where my professor went through the practice questions and left hints for what was on the paper.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would suggest to take organic chemistry 1 a semester before taking this course. One needs to really keep up with the course so a review every week is necessary.
