Not too easy. Not too difficult.
Dr. El-Rady is an amazing teacher who is very passionate about the subject. He is very helpful in office hours. While the material is intense and requires a lot of studying, he is generous with partial credit and has a unique grading system that weights your test grades based on how well you performed on each one.
As a microbiologist, I found the material highly interesting. It overlaps somewhat with Determinative Bacteriology, but also includes information on how antibiotics work, bioterrorism, and public health applications of microbiology.

Advice for students:
The tests are partially multiple choice and partially written. READ THE TRUE/FALSE CAREFULLY. You have to correct all parts of the statement that are false and I've missed points several times for looking over simple things. He posts "what you need to know" files of all the notes after he goes over the material, usually in plenty of time to start studying. It will save you a lot of time if you wait for these files so that you don't waste time on information he doesn't include.
