Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Gonce is highly knowledgeable in regards to psychology and I personally felt extremely prepared for the AP Test in May. He assists in the learning process in ways such as tweaking note taking skills and indicating which pieces of information to direct attention to when teaching yourself chapters of the textbook.

    Course highlights:

I learned the functions of many parts in the brain and the issues that can occur if they are not working properly. I also learned about neurotransmitters and their exact functions along with the history of psychology and most psychologists who contributed a significant amount of information to achieve the understanding we hold today.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The reading given on a nightly basis is an absolute necessity if they want to succeed. Mr. Gonce does go over general highlights of the reading the day after but to fully understand the material they must go into the depth that the book delves into.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who wants to pursue a job in the psychology field. It's very intriguing, mostly self taught, and also a fun challenge. I absolutely loved it and I also loved the teacher! He's a very energetic teacher who thinks of fun an interesting ways to learn the material.

    Course highlights:

The highlights had to be studying something I was genuinely interested in and learning from Mr. Gonce. I learned a lot about the brain, the limbic system, and certain types of human disorders. I find all of it so intriguing, and if you want to know more about why humans do the things they do, I'd recommend this class!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

READ READ READ. Most of this course is self taught and it is highly recommended that you take it seriously. it's like a college class and you cannot afford to slack off. Also, The barons book which goes right along with your psych book is a huge help. USE IT FROM THE BEGINING OF THE COURSE THE WHOLE WAY TO THE END. It's the best.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Learning about the brain turns it into a completely different experience in life. I have gone through the day, and different ideas that I have wondered about pop up in psychology so I am able to apply them in an everyday scenario. One can learn about the science behind weird behaviors but they can also learn interactions between people for a social aspect. This class can be applied throughout many different occasions that occur daily.

    Course highlights:

One highlight is how the information was given to students. It was taught in a way that made me want to learn even more with quirky ways to remember different things. One of my favorite ideas to learn about was the different regions of the brain and how they work. For example, there is a part of your brain that controls a hunger drive so if there is a problem with it then one could stop eating or not be able to stop. Other chapters focused on social situations and nature versus nurture: whether one person was born with their personality or their environment shaped them is a common argument. I also was able to realize why things happened in the past or connect specific vocabulary to normal activities I see people do in the day.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise to always read each chapter. Make it into something interesting and connect it with friends, family, or people you have seen throughout the day. Psychology is a very interesting subject and counts as a social studies so if you are not history oriented then I would strongly recommend this class!
