Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course allows student to get a taste of what College English is like, in a high school environment.

    Course highlights:

Getting to dissect 18th and 19th century texts was genuinely cool. It allowed me to better understand what life was really like back in those times.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to study a lot of text (letters and books). Don't be lazy, there will be a lot of work, but if you have a good teacher, you'll be fine!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

One of my favorite classes I've ever taken! Unlike every traditional English course in which you're simply reading books and discussing basic literary elements, AP Language and Composition digs into the purposeful structure of words and the strategies writers use to strengthen an argument.

    Course highlights:

The biggest take-away from the course was that every piece of writing is an argument--not just persuasive essays. It has changed the way I think, read, and debate. The order of your words matter. The connotations and associations of words matter. Every word matters. Authors don't just write things on a whim. They carefully edit and strategically craft each sentence into a thought that reaches the audience.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Anyone can take this course and enjoy it if you commit to it. I got a 5 on the exam not only because I practiced writing essays of all styles and took multiple-choice tests, but because I was personally invested in the material.
