    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

ONLY TAKE THIS COURSE IF YOU ARE DEFINITELY PURSUING STEM. It is very difficult, and Mr. Aleckson gives no margin for error in the tests - there are no retakes, no flexibility, nothing. However, you learn a lot - I was able to get a 5 on the exam because I was forced to study so much just to pass his class.

    Course highlights:

The teaching is very thorough - you get a deep understanding of not just how to do derivatives, integrals, and series, but to apply them to physics, statistics, and other disciplines. The class is very intense, but great preparation for the AP exam.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

STUDY ALL OF THE TIME. Every day. Stay after as much as possible. Thoroughly do the homework, and seek out other practice problems. Minimize little mistakes on tests by pracitcing like crazy.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Aleckson's BC class is a difficult but amazing class. He teaches the content well and stays after-school for additional help. Since the course is hard please do not blame your failures on him and make sure to put in the effort because for some people who previously excelled in math, this is your first hard math class. Content in the class is huge so be prepared to learn and go try hard until then and study for the APs. Chances are if you can stay in his class and put in the work you can get a 4 or 5.

    Course highlights:

From this course I learned about differential, integral, and series calculus. Beforehand this course looked too hard but I ultimately learned that a low test grade is not the end of the world. Try your best!

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Work hard until the APs. After the APs you still have work but its relatively easier ;)

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course teaches you the information you can't learn in your usual math course (the more useful math). Calculus BC is a higher level math course and it teaches you the process of thinking like a mathematician and how there are many rules and guidelines people have discovered to make the world work like it does.

    Course highlights:

I gained the mathematicians mindset and realized how primitive basic algebra seemed in comparison to upper level mathematics.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Only take Calculus BC if you are comfortable with and/or loving your current math courses. This course isnt like your regular courses that take a little bit of brain power to solve its problems. This course takes a lot of logical reasoning but dont let people tell you that its too difficult of a course to take. In the first few weeks you will feel like you were underprepared or not ready for Calculus BC but after a little while you wil get a hang of it and it will gradually all become much easier for you.
