Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is incredibly helpful in improving one's writing skills. The students focus on not only one style of writing, but different styles and essay forms. Mrs. Roach, the AP English teacher at Cyprus High School was also very effective in grading and correcting the papers. She encouraged the students to continue to fix their mistakes until they had produced the most polished form of their essay.

    Course highlights:

From this course, I learned how to effectively express myself and my opinions through writing. I also learned how to improve written arguments and explore the different sides of an issue.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

It's very important to be able to accept criticism concerning one's writing. It is not done out of malice, but to help one improve. Similarly, it is important to know how to kindly give criticism to another student's writing.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I highly reccomend this course. Mrs. Roach is a great teacher who will thoroughly prepare you for the AP test. She does everything in her power to give you as many practice essays, real essays, and multiple choice practice, and she personally makes sure that by the AP test, you are writing above-passing essays. If you have any questions or need help from her, she is always available before school, after school, and during lunch to make sure you can get help from her any time you need it.

    Course highlights:

From this course, I learned how to write an above average short-response essay for exerpts from books, satiracle pieces, and poems. Also, I learned how to write long-text response essays about the plays and works of literature we read such as Their Eyes Were Watching God and Crime and Punishment.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to read your assigned reading every day. Their Eyes Were Watching God is a quick read, but Crime and Punishment is not, and if you fall behind, it is really hard to catch up.
