    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This course was laid out very well by the professor. He assigned readings for each class, then in class he would go over the material in lecture style. He always allowed for individuals to ask questions, and he also posted his slides online so you could refer back to them for studying for exams. During discussion there were weekly quizzes which helped to keep you on top of the material. Before each exam we were given practice exams, and there was a review lecture the day before the exam. If you did the reading, went to class and discussion, and studied for the exam it was an easy class to do well in.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of the course including learning about various aspects of cognitive psychology in further depth! My favorite part of learning involved memory, and how our memories can be contorted and manipulated over time due to various reasons. Although overall the class did focus on the large topics of cognitive psychology, including memory, language, speech, and intelligence.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the material! I know that having the professor post his notes online before class can be an easy factor in deciding to skip, but going to class and actively focusing on the material will help with your grade in the class. Also, do the practice exam, as a lot of similar concepts show up on future exams.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class was one of my favorite psych classes so far! So many of the concepts were applicable to real life - thinking skills, study strategies, etc. - so it's a great class for both science and conscience majors!

    Course highlights:

I loved learning about top down vs. bottom up processing It's an interesting way to think about how the mind accesses information based on what's available at the time and in the situation. Also, Dr. Polk sends out emails to the students who do really well on exams, which makes you feel kinda special.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to office hours if you're having any trouble understanding concepts! Dr. Polk is a great guy and super helpful. Also, read the book for terms not covered in lectures.
