    | Would highly recommend.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Professor Schrier is the reason I am majoring in Psychology. If I had not taken Psych111, I would not have chosen this as my major! Not only is it a fairly easy course - it's incredibly interesting!

    Course highlights:

I learned the basics of every part of psychology, and I have continued to use things from this class in my other courses throughout college.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study for the exams! I made the mistake of not studying enough for the first exam, and it wasn't pretty. Sometimes it's hard to concentrate in that huge lecture hall, but go to the OH of your GSIs!

    | No strong feelings either way.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

There is too much emphasis on memorizing psychology concepts that are often incorrect or at least part of a complex issue.

    Course highlights:

Some intro concepts and history in psychology

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you study, even though its easy the exams can catch you

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course if you need to take a psychology course. She is very informative and you learn very much. HOWEVER, SHELLY SCHRIER gives 45% of As out while Grayson gives out 25% of grades in the A range. I got an a 95.6%. The book in the course is written in a way to help you very much absorb information. You also learn how to better learn in this course which will be useful to you all throughout college. Carla Grayson is a very nice and human person.

    Course highlights:

We earned about all the classical theories of Psychology from Behavioralism to Freud's physchoanalysis. We learn about common mental health disorders, their mechanisms, and how to treat the mental disorders. We learned about IQ and how it was initially used. We learned about basic anatomy and how the medications affect the brain. We discussed how Psychology is in some way a placebo.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

TAKE THE CLASS WITH SCHRIER, SO YOU HAVE TO DO LESS WORK TO EARN AN A. I went to almost every lecture I could go to. I previewed my lecture slides before they were discussed in lecture or discussion. We had to write two papers during the course. I made sure I wrote my papers early and received feedback from my GSI on my paper before I turned it in. She offered a study guide before each exam. I thoroughly completed that study guide and memorized everything on it before each exam. Make sure you participate and apply all your knowledge in those classes.
