    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Be prepared to work harder than you've ever worked to somehow understand less than you did when you started. Genetics is very, very difficult, but if you want to learn it, it's possible.

    Course highlights:

I especially loved the brief foray into the applications of CRISPR.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Study. Study. Study. Even when you don't think you need to, you do.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Spring semester is much easier than the regular school year and Dr. Ammerlaan makes his exams very fair.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course included recombination mapping and in depth analysis of DNA repair mechanisms. The differences between prokaryotes and eukaryotes was examined at a micro-molecular level and thorough understanding was necessary to complete the course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you start studying early. There is more material covered than you think and skimming the notes does not constitute as studying.
