Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course opened my mind to how mental disorders can be viewed from different perspectives and how these different perspectives intertwine to create the current understandings of mental disorders.

    Course highlights:

I really enjoyed the examples the professor gave. They were very interesting and covered the topic well.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

To do well on the exams, you must read the chapters assigned.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course because it does a very good job at introducing students to psychopathology. Professor Lopez-Duran was great, he really cared about his students by having coffee with him every Friday morning to go over anything pertaining to the class and field of psychology. He also, give hints to the class of what will be on the exam.

    Course highlights:

Some of the highlights from the course were: learning about mental health disorders, having a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) to go over topics that were covered in class and willing to meet with you to help, Professor used many visuals to help students understand the material. I learned a great deal of how the mental health field is flawed but is working towards progression. Also, diagnoses of mental health disorders and common signs to look for in others that may have a potential mental health disorder.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

To be successful in this class: attend every class, take good notes on the main point, read the assign readings before class to be able to tie in what you have read to what the professor is focusing on (if there is an overlap then make note because it will be on the exam). If you do not understand a topic discussed in class reach out to the professor or GSI to get clarification. Tips for studying: take notes on important things, give your self at least 30mins to an hour everyday to go over materials learned, give yourself a full week to study for upcoming exam, and form study group with other classmates to go over materials.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This psychology course focused on different pathologies or mental disorders. It was a very interesting class, my favorite one I took last semester. I plan on going into the field of psychology with the main interest in mental illness so this class was perfect for me. The material was simple enough to follow with regular lectures and exams. The instructor made the class very educational as well as entertaining for students. He often played music before class that pertained to the lesson somehow. He also led interactive discussions. I was never bored in that class.

    Course highlights:

I learned about many different mental disorders and with the class, went much further in depth than I ever had in any previous psychology courses. Psychology is a massive field with a lot of information to take in, but this class was taught well and was made understandable. Outside of the classroom, I learned how to manage my time to study for exams and take notes productively.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Reading the necessary material is vital for success in this class. Reading and rereading will be extremely helpful.
