    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The class provides very intricate detail about the nervous system that reflects the comprehensive knowledge obtained by specialists. It is very beneficial for those interested in medicine or graduate school. It also predisposes students to the type of learning and study techniques required of medical students.

    Course highlights:

The course goes into detail of the mechanisms behind vision and hearing. From the specific channels and receptors in the neurons to the how certain components occur in daily life. I learned how photoreceptors in they back of the eye not only contribute to vision, but also to maintaining the circadian rhythm. Topics also included not just how hair cells in the ear contribute to hearing, but also to balance.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Students should take copious notes during lecture. Write everything the professors say, as they complement the lecture slides in an important way. During the day or two following a lecture, go over your notes and write down any questions you have or try to independently figure out unclear concepts. Then go to office hours and ask all question you have. Though out the lectures, write down specific facts that require memorization and sporadically study them.
