Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course because it is a fun way to earn natural science credits, without having to be an expert in the sciences. I have never been in love with the natural sciences, because I have always found the concepts to be too difficult. However, instead of taking a biology class, which did not interest me, I chose to take ASTRO 104 to fulfill my natural sciences distribution requirements. Not only did I fulfill this requirement, but I got to explore how incredible our universe is, and all of the possibilities that lie beyond us. I would recommend this class mostly because it inspires perspective and influences world views.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the lectures given by Mateo. He was always excited and beyond enthusiastic about his passions and his lessons, which made it much easier to be in class three days a week. He was always easy to talk to, and gave great comparisons, metaphors, and graphics to demonstrate new concepts. I learned about how small we are as a planet, and about how much is in the universe around us. I got to learn about the orbits of moons, planets and stars, as well as the incredible life cycles of stars, and how galaxies form. It was definitely a life changing class.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would suggest befriending a few students in the class and creating a small study group. While it is not an incredibly hard class, there is a lot of information in the text book and it is very helpful to find others to study with for the exams. Don't stress, but definitely read the textbook chapters, or at least skim them, and don't be afraid to ask questions, and email Mateo.
