    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

A great class to learn more about an authors meaning and being able to dig deep inside a characters mind and analyze what they really mean.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to read a book and really analyze that book. A highlight of the course was the book Owen Meany.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the books that are required to read and actually analyze it, if you don't you will have a hard time keeping your grades up.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

AP Lit and Comp is a challenging class, but I would say that it is worth it if you decide to take the AP exam in May of the year you take the class.

    Course highlights:

I was able to increase my knowledge of English and British vocabulary and to better my reading skills.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure that you always have the reading done by the beginning of class, and I would encourage you to increase your vocabulary before enrolling in the class.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is an exceptional way to advance your writing and analytical skills. In addition to acquiring skills needed in college, you also get a chance at earning college credit by passing the AP exam in May!

    Course highlights:

This class focused on analyzing written work, forming educated opinions backed by sophisticated arguments, writing under time constraints, and taking intense multiple choice exams. This class not only teaches you about different forms of writing, it also teaches invaluable reading and writing skills that will help you progress through high school and into college.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

It is imperative to put forth your best effort in every draft of an essay. Slacking on just one draft will set you up for a stressful second and final draft when you are behind the rest of the class. In addition to writing, daily vocabulary words are imperative to learn. There will be bi-weekly quizzes on these new terms, so it is important to study them every night. Being able to apply them in your writing proves that you have mastered them!
