    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I do not recommend taking CHEM 1515 with El Rassi, as he is not a very effective teacher. He teaches directly out of the book and does not explain anything, so if you want to learn anything you basically have to teach yourself. I understand that it is the responsibility of the student to study, but the instructor must teach the students. He assigns very little homework, and the labs and homework have very little weight on your grade. He gives no curve even though his exam score averages are low, and he says that they are very good when in fact they are terrible.

    Course highlights:

I gained very little from this course, other than the foresight to find out about professors before enrolling in a class.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't take El Rassi, in the past I've been very successful in chemistry classes (B range with studying, C range without) and in this class I am extremely unsuccessful (very likely D range with studying, and will be lucky to get a C in the class). All of my past instructors have been able to teach the material and merely use the book as reference, El Rassi teaches directly out of the book. DO NOT TAKE EL RASSI!

I wish that he were able to teach higher level chem classes, it would make my life that much easier!
