    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it because it is required for just about every major to have a science with a lab and this is the most common course freshmen take. Always take the most common course because you will have plenty of people to study with.

    Course highlights:

Being a major other than science there isn't much of a take away material-wise, but I did learn how to adapt from high school class to college class.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take cornell style notes, form effective study groups, use the 2 for 1 study rule is (always study 2 hours for every 1 hour you're in class, trust me.).

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is a very difficult course if you aren't ready to devote almost all your time to studying for it, do not take it right now.

    Course highlights:

My highlights were that it taught me how to work hard for something even if it meant without my lab partners help.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Study a lot, go to every study session you can and find a group of friends that know just as much or more than you do about Bio1114.

    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to students, because it forces them to think in a new way. Dr. French presents problems that aid the students in thinking like a scientist, which is a new way of thinking than most students are used to.

    Course highlights:

I gained a new way of thinking through problems. We were presented background information that we had to utilize to solve related problems. The problems we looked at were also tailored to current research and issues, which made it interesting to learn about.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would give the advice to go to class and participate in the class discussions. Not only do you get to meet new people who will be in your other classes, but it lets the professor get to know you. You should also always introduce yourself to your professor, whether you do that after class or at their office hours. It is important to make networking connections wherever possible. One day that professor may be looking for an undergraduate student like you to hire for his research, and you want him or her to know your name!
