Not too easy. Not too difficult.
Professor Zhang is one of the best professors at this university. Not only is he extremely intelligent and educated in a large variety of topics, he also knows how to translate whatever he knows into translate it into more simple terms for students to grasp. Professor Zhang is a professor that genuinely cares about his students--if anyone is thinking about taking one of his Chinese classes I would highly recommend it. Professor Zhang makes one of the hardest languages to learn extremely simple as long as you are willing to take the time to review what you learn in his class.
The highlights of this class stem from the variety of vocabulary that I have learned so far in this class. Not only have I gained a basic understanding of simplified Chinese characters, their pinyin and their meaning, but I have also gained a huge insight within the Chinese culture. Additionally, for students that do not do well on the exams in his class he gives an option for a retake (if you make below a B) and a surplus of extra credit opportunity. Personally, I believe that you have to really want to fail this class for you to not do well. Perhaps the biggest highlight is Professor Zhang's demeanor and attitude towards his class...he is the type of Professor that makes you add a minor in his subject because he makes you love his classes so much.

Advice for students:
In order to do well in class you should go to class and create note cards. Personally, I would put the simplified characters on one side, and the pinyin as well as the English on the other side. Also, for the homework, just keep an eye on folio (sometimes he doesn't always announce the homework).
