    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Make no mistake, organic chemistry is not an easy class but Dr. Shaikh was a wonderful professor! He made sure everyone in class had the opportunity to ask questions and taught at a pace we were all comfortable with.

    Course highlights:

This course really built on everything learned in CHEM 1145 and 1146. I believe the majority of the class was spent on nomenclature, structures, and mechanisms. All of this can be tricky at first but, eventually, you get the hang of it,

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to study and work! Don't be scared off by it though! If you stick with the class and really put in effort, you should do fine.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class! I was extremely nervous going into Organic Chemistry I and Dr. Shaikh has completely relieved all my fears. He is a great teacher who cares about his students and wants to see them do well. He gives tons of examples and helps students when they need it.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about the basics of organic chemistry. We really pulled a lot from Principles of Chemistry I/II and built on it.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice for this course would be to show up in class and do the homework! Dr. Shaikh is very nice and will work with you but you have to attend class and do the work to know what you need help with.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Shaihk is a phenomenal professor! He teaches at the pace of the class and wants to make sure that no one gets left behind. That being said, his tests are not easy yet they are fair to the content of the course.

    Course highlights:

Dr. Shaihk teaches at the pace of his students, so you tend not to get left behind but are not stuck learning the same content until everyone masters it. However, he cannot help you unless you ask him for clarification, more examples, etc. I've learned a lot about Organic Chemistry, from acid-base reactions to retrograde synthesis, all in one semester.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Try to form study groups as soon as possible with people in your class. These become helpful when you are about to take a test or the ACS final.
