    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Chemistry can be a really difficult subject, but I foynd that it sharpened my math skills and my ability to understand why things happen in the world around me. It is more entertaining than courses like physics, because you can see the chemistry in front of you. Also, the labs are exciting.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot of practical applications for my rudimentary math skills, which improved my ability o use them. The highlights were definitely the labs- they were hands on and included dramatic presentations (such as lighting magnesium on fire). Ultimately, I left with a better basis for how chemicals react in the world around me, and a good foundation for other science fields (such as biology).

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I had taken chemistry previously (in high school), so I had a bit of an easier time adjusting, but many of my classmates found the course very demanding. It requires a lot of math skills. It was helpful to review my basic algebra to help with formulas and stoichiometry.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it if you're a fairly strong student and always study, however I wouldn't recommend it if you're a slacker. I slacked off a bit during this course and managed to pass with a B. The teacher is ok, but he rushes through the material.

    Course highlights:

I learned about stoichiometry, the shapes of molecules, the first thirty elements, how the elements are ordered, the electronegativity of elements, the difference between compounds and mixtures, and the different categories for the elements.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study very hard, read all the book chapters, use the review material on the website so that you make sure you know how to do everything. Don't just theoretically know how to do a problem, practice it 100 times and actually master it so that when you have the problem on a quiz or exam you won't be surprised or fail because you didn't know how to do one aspect of the problem. Chemistry is nit-picky, so you've to be very precise, down to the last decimal.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it because it will help you understand chemicals.

    Course highlights:

My professor made us laugh all the time and explained things in a way that we could understand it.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice to other students would be to study hard.
