    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I ranked this course 3 stars because it is a matter of choice. I personally enjoy learning about biology, so this course was good for me; however, it would not be a good choice for someone who does not like the subject. This course in particular requires a lot of self motivation, as there is much material that needs to be learned outside of class in order to succeed. For that reason, it is essential to have a passion for learning biology when taking this course.

    Course highlights:

This course taught the basics of many aspects of biology, such as ecology, genetics, plant biology, and human anatomy. I loved learning about how the body works and how those traits came to be through evolution. We would often discuss how these concepts applied to the real world and why they are important.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

One of the aspects of this course that made it difficult was the fact that there was not one source that had all the material on the test. We had a textbook, and online source, powerpoint slides, and a review packet. At least 3 of these sources had to be studied in order to get a good understanding of all the concepts for each unit. It was also helpful to search for past exam questions, which gave a good idea of what material would appear on the test. Some concepts are not presented well in class, or not covered in enough depth, so must be studied outside of the class.

    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I feel that though Mrs. Schildberg can be quite difficult to deal with at some points, she is very knowledgeable of Biology and is more than willing to help if you give her the same respect you expect of her.

    Course highlights:

Throughout this course, the student learns about how to be well prepared for the Higher Level IB Biology Test and to further their knowledge of biology. This course focuses on how to apply your knowledge of biology to real-world situations and context

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed, students should definitely talk to the teacher if they have any questions on the topic they are unsure of or be sure to ask fellow classmates. Find a group to study with that will keep you in line and want to get work done with.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I have always been a science person. I love math and science. The one thing that was always a bummer for me is the teachers would make the classes boring. This was not Mrs. Crupi. She had a bond with all her students, and helped us not only with biology but with problems in our personal life also. She created fun (and sometimes tasty!) experiments for her classes to do, and really focused on what the students were interested in making us all pay more attention and get higher grades. She was a lovely teacher and made the class fun!

    Course highlights:

My favorite subjects we learned during this course was evolution and genetics. We had fun experiments like extracting the DNA of a strawberry and also learned what chemicals made up the DNA of not only people but animals also. It's crazy how close our DNA is to being something completely different! For example, us as humans are only two chromosomes away from being a potato, at first I didn't believe it!!!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Mrs. Crupi provides all the resources you need to succeed. Many people in the class would toss out the flashcard on their way out of the class or leave them in their backpack. If you want to thrive in this class, you need to use those materials she hands out to you. She gives them for a reason.
