Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Piluk, while not one of the most flexible teachers, is truly the most eccentric and understanding ones. If you have a schedule conflict, he will take that into account and give you credit where credit is due. Additionally, he gives plenty of extra tips and facts in class. These aren't on the AP or on his tests, but they help your overall academic career.

    Course highlights:

I am still taking the course so I can't comment on everything. It's very fast paced and you have to make sure you stay on track. Mr. Piluk does a bunch of cool activities throughout the year and you learn how to write reports and various statistical analysis techniques which are pretty usefull.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Mr. Piluk is a fabulous teacher so take advantage of all the extra knowledge you get through his class. His tests are very objective-based so I would recommend using sources in addition to your book to study for the tests. Also, fond some biology puns and give them to Piluk to get on his good side!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This was an extremely interesting and engaging course that taught me a strong foundation in biology and helped me to enjoy science class a lot more! Mr. Piluk was a wealth of knowledge and his passion carried through his teaching making the class a lot of fun. It included lots of different activities from labs, to notes, to demonstrations, to videos. Each day was something new and exciting.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the frog dissection lab and the creative "adopt a molecule project". The frog dissection was a hands on, very engaging lab. We worked in small groups so everyone was able to contribute and learn a lot. I learned all about the organs and organ systems of a frog and the proper procedures for dissections. The "adopt a molecule" project was a creative outlet where we created a powerpoint/baby book about a specific molecule, mine was glycogen. Our small group researched, assembled, and presented the project to the whole class. We became experts on our molecule and then took notes on the other molecules to become experts on those as well. These were my favorite assignments from the year.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to be very organized and willing to work. You will learn a lot but there are lots of labs, tests, and notes. Also, know how to create professional looking graphs on the computer.
