Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

For many students considering majoring in a field of science, you absolutely cannot skip Chemistry. I high recommend this course for its academic rigorousness, as it acts as a stepping stone to potentially more difficult classes in the future. However as not to scare anyone with this initial description, the class itself is very engrossing. The conceptual aspect of chemistry is vast and perhaps even "mind-blowing". I once again, definitely recommend this course.

    Course highlights:

Day after day, reading out of a textbook can be draining, as most students can attest to. This course offers the perfect combination of textbook learning, and "hands-on" application; in other words, labs. I believe the most exciting part of chemistry is seeing all those concepts you learned about put into practice on a black marble lab table in your classroom. You explore the different properties of gases under certain conditions, as well as how many reactions can either run to completion or remain at equilibrium. These kinds of things can be visually reproduced for students to observe.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read. Read. READ. Although doing the labs is fun and all, I highly recommend you read ahead of time to really absorb the information. Your teacher may or may not lecture on certain topics, so it is very critical you read to understand the current chapter. If the textbook reading is too dry for you, I recommend you search up the topic online to get a better understanding. Although this many sound redundant, practice makes perfect. If you finish the homework assigned, re-do several questions from previous chapters to refresh your memory. Lastly, don't hold off the studying for tests until last minute. It's always better to do a little bit each day than to cram Sunday night.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it is equally fascinating and mentally challenging. This course is challenging because it requires many complex steps and critical thinking in order to solve problems and create products from a reaction. The reaction is where the fascination comes in, because everyone has always wanted to be a mad scientist once in their life, and this course allows you to be that person!

    Course highlights:

This course was fun for me because I gained a newfound respect and interest in the sciences.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

For this course, I would recommend taking rigorous notes and always paying attention during lectures. It's important to also not give up. As tough as it may seem, always try and break it down into little steps first. If that doesn't work, ask your teacher for help. You are not stupid or pathetic if you need help, there is no shame in it. Also, don't worry. Your teacher is there to help you, and will give you help if you need it.
