    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course to anyone that is willing to put in the work to actually learn something. McCarthy is a tough professor, but because of that, his class is one I will always remember and value. In his class, you don't just learn about the readings, but all of the readings in his class show controversial views to what society deems acceptable. These readings teach you how to look at things in a different light, and this is something I greatly cherish. Most days in his class we had class discussions about the chapters that we read, and the best thing about it was that McCarthy never made us think a certain way. There was never a "right" answer, only discussion, and this made for a very open and friendly environment in the classroom.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the many class discussions. His class was a class that I actually looked forward to. We had one unit at the end of the semester that was about Calvin Klein ads. We discussed how controversial they were and we even brought in some of our own. His class is a tough one to make an A in, but one of the best feelings was making an A in his class because you know that he didn't just give it to you, you actually earned it.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you actually do the readings when he tells you to. He isn't a fan of pop quizzes, but if he feels that the class hasn't done the reading he assigned, he will start giving them. While they are not a big portion of your grade, it still sucks to fail a quiz when all you had to do was read a few pages.
