    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is excellent for those who love the outdoors. Mr. Erwin is an excellent professor who truly dedicated himself to making sure the students understand the material.

    Course highlights:

We learned the scientific names of a plethora of animals, we learned how to texture soil, and even how to determine the quality of water. I learned so much from this course.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to stay on top of classwork and do not leave things for the last minute. For the Tech Prep project, spend plenty of time planning the project.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to explore or pursue a career in the environmental field. It is extremely hands-on and you learn so much about how your future college classes will be like. I love Environmental Science and I feel very lucky to be able to have been in the class and learned so much in my field before even going to college.

    Course highlights:

My favorite unit was animal identification and management. I feel very confident in my identification skills and practices because of this unit. One of the hardest units so far was the forestry unit where we first learned to identify all Ohio native trees and learn took that to help use learn about calculating board feet and doing basal area studies. This unit was very challenging but I feel capable in my abilities to do forestry management in the future. This class has taught me so much and I am excited for all the things it still has to teach me.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to work hard because this is a college class and it is tough. Mr. Erwin wants all his students to succeed and be ahead of the game when they enter college. He teaches the class in the efforts to prepare his students for the long road ahead in such a difficult and developing career path.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course has prepared me for my chosen career field of environmental science far more than I would have hoped for. We do so many fun competitions and certifications that truly do build a resume. We compete in soil judging, and Envirothon. Kids in the class have the opportunity to be SCUBA certified and we are trained in OSHA 30 hour. Mr. Erwin is also one of the best mentors I have ever had. Highly recommend this course.
