    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The other students in the class are of a very high caliber, and class discussions provide a lot of insight. AP Chemistry presented a challenge that was incredibly enjoyable. The instructions for the labs are very straightforward, and tests, although they kick your butt, are a good indicator of what you've learned. But be warned: If you're not up to spending lunches and after school time on top of eons at home working, this is not for you.

    Course highlights:

Unlike some other AP Chem classes, we do all of the labs and write up legitimate lab reports for each one. I learned a lot about basic chemistry and the reason WHY things react or don't react with each other, not just the math around it. After the AP test is over, you'll get to do "fun labs" to cushion your grade, which really are fun. Fitzpatrick is really the highlight of this course. She's intense, but awesome.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Do NOT get behind. There's this terrible domino effect when you miss one class and then have to catch up but still do everything for the coming classes. Stay on top of this class, even if it means sacrificing others. Read the material before you go to the lecture so you have a general idea of what's going on before Fitz goes in depth.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course allowed me to gain the confidence I need for college. I learned the following, valuable study techniques: group study sessions, effective independent study, rewriting notes, watching course videos effectively as well. This class was by far my favorite class. I was fortunate enough to be in a class full of passionate learners, which had a huge impact on the atmosphere of the classroom. We all are students that succeed and like to help others excel in the process. My love for chemistry was discovered in this class.

    Course highlights:

This course not only prepared me for future classes and college, but also assisted me with critical and logical thinking, test taking skills, reading and understanding labs thoroughly, and so much more. Personally, my favorite unit was the Organic Chemistry because it is so weird and abnormal, but it is was makes life as we know it. Without chemistry we wouldn't be here today.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention, Take good and detailed notes, rewrite notes, and enjoy the class. Do not procrastinate on lab reports, ask questions, be bold and not afraid to try ideas for your first semester final.
