    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

As expected, this course was rigorous and challenging! Only people who are comfortable with lots of chemistry and have a strong grip on the concepts, equations, and backgrounds should take the course. Taking Honors Chemistry 1-2 the year prior to AP Chemistry definitely prepared me for the difficult class. My teacher, Mr. D, was also very helpful and would take time before and after school to explain problems if a student was struggling. The class is fun with the interesting labs and science tools, or toys for Mr. D's sake. I highly recommend this course only if a devoted student can accept the challenge that is chemistry.

    Course highlights:

Some of the highlights I remember were the labs. Burning different types of chips, measuring calories, mixing chemicals, creating alcohols and other solutions, and testing electronegativity of elements. This class can be very hands-on, helping a student stay awake and focused. I learned a lot about chemistry and my own capabilities as a student. We dove deeper into concepts than the Honors Chemistry class, which was very interesting. I learned that most times, things tie together, no matter how far apart they may appear. Many equations have similar variables, so I taught myself to memorize the meanings of each and how to coordinate through my notes efficiently. I learned to take more organized notes and to not procrastinate as much because we received numerous small assignments that were not all that short.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

First off, you need to be dedicated. You will be stressed out at some point and that is totally okay. Relax, do your work, and always ask questions. More than likely, there are others students who do not understand certain concepts either. Find some partners in class to communicate with when you are struggling and need assistance with homework, this study group will help later on with group labs and preparation for big tests. Just stay committed, try not to procrastinate, and be vocal. You will have fun!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

AP chemistry helps greatly in preparation of a chemistry college course due to its rigorous and demanding work. Although the class is difficult, mr. D is a very helpful teacher and helped me with anything I was stuck on.

    Course highlights:

We covered the whole course of chemistry very quickly so we could prepare and review for the ap exam in time. After the ap exam, Mr. D begins organic chemistry.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Always be consistent with doing homework and other assignments everyday. Studying and reading the textbook are necessary in order to do well on tests as well as the ap exam.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

AP Chemistry is an extremely difficult class, at least in my opinion. The way it is taught is completely different from regular or honors chemistry. There is not a lot of memorization involved, but there are many complex steps and long processes to carry out for single problems.

    Course highlights:

The labs were very fun! At first it is very frustrated being released and forced to just figure it out on your own, but doing labs your own way and learning from failure is very beneficial. Also, there is a lot of homework from the text book and worksheets, but it is all due at one time, so you have time to get help if you need it.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would recommend that if you are considering this course to only take a few other challenging classes with it. Instead of an entire schedule of difficult classes, really just focus on this one. It will take a lot of time and effort, especially when it is tough. Also, just because you were good at honors Chemistry, do not expect this class to be like that.
