Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Lugo is a very engaging and thoughtful teacher. I was never fully into art or history, but its combination is very interesting. I really enjoyed depicting art works with their symbolism, color, and styles that artists painted in. What is also cool is the change you see in styles overtime and how art has evolved since prehistory.

    Course highlights:

My favorite part of AP Art History was the projects! Mr. Lugo made them fun and hard work, but not boring hard work. One project a group was assigned a number of art works that we had to research and present to the class. Then, we had to come up with an heist of how we would steal a work. The most creative heist got a prize at the end and it forced you to be creative and work hard!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this course it's very important to study long and hard. Take good notes during class while the teacher is speaking, because a lot of times the teacher will give you information that will help you on the test that cannot be found in other sources you're given while studying.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it is an interesting take on history. You get to see the evolution of societies throughout the world through their culture, rather than their politics. It is a fast paced and challenging course which asks the student to question their own opinions and ideas through the analysis of prominent works from ancient civilizations through the modern day.

    Course highlights:

At it's core, the course teaches you the form, function, content and context of various works of art. It covers global prehistory, medieval art, the renaissance, contemporary art and every age between and includes all styles of art which one can imagine. What I found most interesting in this course was impressionism, as I loved learning about the changeover from more traditional and idealistic styles of art which we had been examining over the past months of the course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise students taking this course to be proactive in their work and avoid procrastination. The sooner that you can get the note taking and more lecture based work out of the way, the more time there is left to explore the extraneous and interesting details of the pieces.
