    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I loved this class. I love English and having an environment where we can discuss different parts of literature. I particularly loved the poetry unit. However- this class takes HOURS outside of class. I had a very hard time fitting the out of class work into my schedule.

    Course highlights:

Poetry, Pride and Prejudice, and just generally comparing what I learned to my life today. I felt thoroughly prepared for the AP exam.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not take this class if you take many other APs and do many extracurriculars. If you only take many APs or only participate in a lot outside of school, this will be doable. But both? A recipe for a stressful senior year.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class really helped improve my writing skills, but it was quite a lot of reading and busy work throughout the year.

    Course highlights:

I loved reading the essays and discussing them in class. I also came to appreciate the fact that Trotter makes you write two essays per month because this is where I could really see myself growing as a writer.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you're a strong reader! People who struggled with reading and reading comprehension had a harder time in this class.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mrs. Smith is highly intelligent and assures all her students are learning by having them share their homework, essays and poems in class.

    Course highlights:

Learning how to write an argumentative essay.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you want to learn English and be prepared for college take English AP.
