    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because it teaches you more in-depth knowledge about Biology. In addition, this class provides the students with increasingly difficult knowledge which encourages the students to think out-side of the box more habitually.

    Course highlights:

By taking Biology I was given the opportunity to increase my knowledge about cells, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, etc. Equally important, I was, also, able to increase my skills and knowledge in problem solving, studying, time management, and how to use my time efficiently.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

To do your best in this class you will have to begin with an open mind and patience. This course requires a lot of patience because of the difficult materials taught throughout this course, the student must be able to posses patience when learning. Moreover, the student will best succeed with an open mind because an open mind cause the student to have a better attitude throughout the class which will increase the student's willingness to succeed in the class. As for studying, I suggest to study little bits each day. This course is far too advanced and the materials are more difficult for a student to try and understand the night before during their "crash study".

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it challenges a student by providing him/her with difficult lessons which will force the student to think outside of the box more habitually. Moreover, this course increases one's knowledge in Biology by effectively using its materials and resources to teach the students.

    Course highlights:

    Advice for students:

To all students who are considering this course, I strongly recommend that you take this course. This course will not only help you gain more knowledge in Biology, but it will also teach some unique lessons. Biology will help you better manage your time; since you do have to spend so much time completing the assignments. In addition, it will help you learn how to increase your work ethic because the materials are more difficult than a normal class. In my opinion, taking this course will provide you with nothing but good things.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This AP biology course, taught by the enthusiastic and knowledgeable Mr. Stephen Boyle, is a course that will bring you face to face with biological concepts through engaging labs (including one on biotechnology, in which you actually edit the genome of real E. coli bacteria) and and lectures focused on distilling the most important concepts in biology. I recommend studying well and often. For example, a technique you could use to excel in his class would be to take out a blank sheet of paper and write down everything you know on the topic at hand, afterwards checking your writing with your notes and textbook. Additionally, while in his class, be sure to to always "work" the information around in your head through the lectures-- continuously recite to yourself, in your head, what was said, and add new information as the lecture moves along. These two techniques will help you earn high scores and will make biology more enjoyable for you.

    Course highlights:

The highlights include hands on labs, interactive review sessions, fun techno music being played on Fridays as the class comes in, a teacher who truly cares about the subject and his students. I learned a lot on genetics and biotechnology (which substantially influenced my college and career planning decisions), how the immune system functions (helping me understand much on how people grow an immune system and why they need vaccinations and why infants should drink breast milk), and helped me finally understand biochemistry, despite being taught it in a previous course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

As I stated above, a technique you could use to excel in his class would be to take out a blank sheet of paper and write down everything you know on the topic at hand, afterwards checking your writing with your notes and textbook. Additionally, while in his class, be sure to to always "work" the information around in your head through the lectures-- continuously recite to yourself, in your head, what was said, and add new information as the lecture moves along.
