    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Taking it as a freshman was a huge wake up call from easy middle school. I consider it to this day one of the hardest classes I took (given I was 13 years old)

    Course highlights:

Highlights were Mrs. Ny telling us how she drank fermented juice. You learn the basics but also very thorough understanding of biology, except you don't really understand it.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

study hard and don't leave it all to the last day to study. colorcoding things helps and makes it pretty.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is one of the few courses that does two things when it promises one. The goal of the course, as per the description on the website is that it prepares you for the AP exam in the spring. But Mrs. Servedio does so much more than that. If you are interested in pursuing anything remotely related to biology, or even if you aren't, I would highly recommend this course. It is engaging, it is interesting, and it makes you think. The material she teaches is real world applicable, so you are not just a biology student, you are a global citizen

    Course highlights:

I learned how to think, and how to apply. I am not going to lie; this was a difficult class, but that's only because it is different. The concepts you learn are not what are tested; it is the application of those concepts that becomes very important. What I learnt was that if you put in a concentrated effort every day, and learn not just the material, but how it connects, you can take any course, no matter the difficulty. You just have to be committed, interested and willing.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I know that people ask me about how to study for the tests, how to learn the material, how to keep up with the immense amount of material. The answer is simple, and appllicable to anything else. Patience, Effort and Practice. If you are taught about respiration, reread the notes, take out a piece of paper, and draw out the process. Then ask yourself the point of the process. That's the aim of the course, to make you see how a minute biological molecule or process relates to you as a person, you as a member of society and to our world at large. There is no memorization in this class, you have to make sure that you understand the purpose of this material

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The teacher very clearly explains all material and prepares you for the AP very well.

    Course highlights:

I learned all of the topic covered on the AP examination. Because of the rigor of the course, the AP seemed relatively easy in comparison.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be sure you know the material well, but if you need to memorize something quickly, be sure to know the big ideas and overarching concepts of that particular chapter or topic.
