Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Miller is an excellent teacher. As people, Mr. Miller and I are very different, and while that could make it harder for me to learn with some other teachers, it did not inhibit my learning at all with Mr. Miller. He was able to cater to all learning styles and didn't keep everyone at the same level. Those prepared for the next step were free to pursue it and those who still needed help got it. The course itself was also very interesting, it offered a much greater understanding of simple reactions that I see in my everyday life, for example, Mr. Miller taught us how shampoo and conditioner work. The learning stretched all the way up to more complex topics as well. If I had to choose one course where I learned the most in my high school career, Chemistry would be my pick.

    Course highlights:

By taking this course, so many things in your everyday life will be explained, just by thinking about the concepts learned and applying them to situations that you encounter. My favorite part of this course was taking the final and seeing all these questions applicable to real life and being able to give all the answers just based on an understanding the fundamental concepts of chemistry.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Sometimes lecture can be boring. Embrace it anyway. You will learn so much just by staying awake and present during discussion. Work out all the problems. Don't give up on those problems, keep working until you understand it, even if that means getting help from a teacher or your peers. I believe 100% that by paying attention and working hard, there is no way you can fail. Believe in yourself and give this class your full effort and an "A" is yours.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is incredibly challenging but will provide you not only with credits, but also experience in doing and writing up labs successfully. Ms. Zornes, the teacher, is supportive but realistic, and will help you to succeed while being a just and fair teacher. AP Chemistry provides a unique experience and a more in depth understanding of the subject, while providing a safe and fun learning environment.

    Course highlights:

Taking this course has provided me with in depth understanding of basic chemistry - including but not limited to nuclear chemistry, understanding the atom and atomic bonding, and organic chemistry, This course also prepared me and my peers for the AP exam in the spring, as well as lab experience which give the opportunity to determine the practical application of theories, working with new tools in labs that include the processes of titrating, centrifuging, and many more, and provide further practice of keeping a lab notebook and writing Formal Lab Reports.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This course has the chance to be incredibly gratifying, so long as you take advantage of the study tools made available - and not put off work. This is a very labor intensive class, and it requires a lot of attention. Be prepared to perform extra out-of-class studying to fully understand the material.
