Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this class and this professor to any incoming Freshman! I love the class and the professor. She loves to makes things simple and she allows us to practice questions within the class a lot. Her tests aren't awful at all, and it's a great mixture of intrigue and difficulty (difficulty just means your brain is growing!)

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot of stuff about Thermochemistry, Quantum Chemistry, and the specific way that molecules bond. This only helped me prepare for Organic Chemistry, one of the hardest classes you could possibly take! It's a good segway class.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely do as many practice problems as you can. The professor gives you a lot of suggested problems out of the textbook that are super helpful, but it's also great if you go beyond those question and research some more. There's no such thing as understanding a subject too much.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it creates a very strong foundation for the more difficult science courses of Mercer. Dr. Bucholtz is a great professor, and though a bit difficult, he makes sure you understand the material. The course is definitely needed for all science majors.

    Course highlights:

Gen Chem 1 went over the basics of chemistry and highlighted some more important topics as well. Some topics that were taught in Chem 1 will be the main subjects in Chem 2. Some of the topics include acids and bases, and electrochemistry.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You will definitely need the textbook, as Dr. B assigns suggested practice problems. These problems are very similar to what is then seen on the exam. The course wasn't heavy on the text itself, instead it was more math based. Do all practice tests that Dr. B gives, and going to SI helped me tremendously! Take advantage of SI!
