    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

    This is a fundamental class for counseling students; it teaches the foundation of assessments and how they are properly used in counseling. This course also requires the learner to have a solid understanding of the ethical and legal considerations that accompany the selection administration, and interpretation of test measurements.

    Course highlights:

    This class requires the learner to gain a concrete understanding of validity and reliability of assessments and how to examine them appropriately. Furthermore, the learner needs to be able to master the concepts involved in selecting and administering assessments that consider the client's needs and all cultural and ethical considerations of administering tests.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

    This course requires dedication and extensive research; the learner must be willing to put in the time and research necessary to master the concepts in this course. Furthermore, students going into this class should already have a solid understanding of the ACA Code of Ethics and the basic knowledge of the concepts of validity and reliability.

    Course Overview:

    I would recommend this class to anyone in a counseling track!

    Course highlights:

    This class had done a great job explaining how it will be beneficial to anyone in a counseling career track to understand their role in finding appropriate tests and how they should be used in a clinical setting.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

    To succeed in this course it is best to read all of the textbook material. It is also helpful to read the optional work but it is not mandatory.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

    This course has the key components for the early stages in counseling. In order to find a fitting diagnosis; it is important that you know how to effectively administer an assessment. I found this course to be very beneficial to the counseling studies process.

    Course highlights:

    The highlights of the course were that you as the student were able to assess a client through a case study. This teaches one how to view their client's problems efficiently in order to gain a proper diagnosis.

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

    You must read the material and understand it in order to properly apply research to a targeted population.
