This course has the key components for the early stages in counseling. In order to find a fitting diagnosis; it is important that you know how to effectively administer an assessment. I found this course to be very beneficial to the counseling studies process.

The highlights of the course were that you as the student were able to assess a client through a case study. This teaches one how to view their client's problems efficiently in order to gain a proper diagnosis.

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You must read the material and understand it in order to properly apply research to a targeted population.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course will help you complete other coursework in other courses and increase your understanding especially for research purposes. For example, when reviewing empirical research for research papers, you be able to understand more the measurements and results of the study.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the complimentary supplemental instruction and the opportunity to learn more about assessments. The supplemental instruction group met once a week and provided an opportunity to gain more clarity about the course materials. I had the opportunity to learn more about assessments to use with children.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this course, I strongly recommend to take full advantage of the supplemental instruction which can also be used as a study tool as well.
