    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

    The homework you do online is not always certain. You can get the right answer, but be unsure that you are doing the right method. It is also basically self taught, so do not take it if it is your first time. Calculus is tough, and it helps to have an instructor you can ask questions up front.

    Course highlights:

    It helped to have the discussions where you could ask your classmates questions and they offered tips and hints on how to do things. I learnt about power series and I was able to understand it better. I also learnt a big lesson. Get help from the tutors as soon as possible.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

    Ask for help from tutors, and take advantage of all your resources. If you get stuck on a question do not dwell on it, move on and come back to it. If you stay, then you end up wasting time.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

    I would not recommend taking an online course for Calculus. It would facilitate the class to have a teacher on hand who you can ask questions. Also, in subjects like Calculus, there are tips and tricks the teachers offer to make things a bit easier when taught face to face. Online classes are also pretty much self-taught. The most important thing that saved me was that I had already taken the class in the Spring.

    Course highlights:

    I actually enjoyed working on the series. They were like little puzzles that you needed to solve. Also, since it was the second time through, I kind of knew what I was doing. Another bonus was that I understood things better. Since it was pretty much self-taught, you get a better understanding of what is going on.

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

    Stay ahead with the homework. This helps reduce stress, and therefore increases your performance. I would also advise you to not just use the Webassign practice to copy down answers, but to try and understand what they are doing and why they are doing that. This helps you apply it to other questions.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

    Mr. Zhang is a good teacher, willing to help if you go and ask. His lecture notes are also concise and very helpful. The quizzes every class help keep up with your homework and studies. They are an encouragement.

    Course highlights:

    I understood how to use radians instead of just degrees. Before I was not sure how radians worked, but we had to use it for this class when learning polar coordinates with curves.

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

    Do the homework everyday. The practice helps with the exams an understanding.
