    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Katsamanis is an incredibly teacher that makes organic chemistry extremely accessible and enjoyable all at the same time!

    Course highlights:

My critical thinking skills skyrocketed during the course! I also increased my self confidence my mastering such a difficult course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the homework ahead of time, and at least read a little bit ahead. Being familiar with some of the structures previous to class will allow you to stay ahead!

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It takes a lot of time out of your week to study. You definitely have to put in work to understand the material.

    Course highlights:

The TAs helped a lot in understanding each topic. The CLC was always packed with students and TAs ready to help each other.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not wait until the last minute to study. You are given one 5x8 index card to use during the exam. Try your best to start doing the index card early and don't wait until day of the exam.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Very difficult class if you have trouble visualizing the material, however, with a lot of hard work, dedication, and help from amazing TAs, you can succeed and actually learn a lot. Organic Chemistry is not for everyone, and it is easy to get defeated if you are having trouble grasping a concept, but you must keep trying. Giving up after doing poorly on an exam or quiz will only hurt you in the end, the course is relentlessly cumulative so you must keep persevering.

    Course highlights:

You learn a lot, although it might seem like nonsense at the time. Definitely more intense and in-depth than general chemistry courses. You will learn everything from E1 E2 Sn1 Sn2 reactions to IR Spectra and back to alkenes/alkynes/alkanes.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You HAVE to be dedicated to this course. It is definitely not an easy A, not even an easy B+. You need to put a lot of time, effort, and tears into this course if you want to succeed.
