Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it because it is a really fun class. I think this eases up the stress of having to take required major courses. Also the class is very easy to pass you do the short readings and pay attention to the music.

    Course highlights:

I learned about how environment affects music as well as how rock music originated and developed through the years. We started from the earliest forms of rock music to the most recent.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

I would suggest you know how each piece starts. This is the key component on the exams. Know the beginning of each song and you will pass the class with ease.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Professor Tausig's class was a great break from the typical academic studies. We focused on rock and popular music from the 1950s onward, reading magazine articles as the only literature, and listening to a playlist that he created to teach different historical and musical themes. The coursework wasn't challenging at all, just five short response papers, six quizzes (one is a bonus!), and two tests. He's a funny guy and really wants you to succeed, his lectures are interesting and you definitely won't fall asleep.

    Course highlights:

I learned a great deal about sociocultural and sociopolitical themes in music from the past decades, which was incredibly interesting. Professor Tausig is very knowledgeable about all aspects of what he teaches and is very thorough with his lessons. I also discovered new music that I ended up being very fond of.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

I would make review guides based on the terms he provides in class, dividing between artists, genres, terms, and time periods. I also would use the textbook and take notes on the main points of the readings and remember the author's names; the test questions specifically list authors.
