    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Music is a very fascinating topic that has a universe for you to delve into and explore. The pace of the course is not too fast and allows you to attain a grasp for the principles of music and understand the logic behind compositions and be able to read music for yourself which is an invaluable skill.

    Course highlights:

Highlights of the course included learning how to read music on the grand staff, learning chord inversions, chord names, key signatures, chord progressions, and meters.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Spend as much time as you need to practice the material. There are likely going to be students in your class who have already taken years of musical classes and are just taking this class for a free grade booster. Do not get discouraged by other people's grasp on the subject. Music is a topic that anyone can learn and it takes lots of hard work and effort to internalize the information for yourself.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The course work is very easy at the start but it hits a spike and gets more challenging. The later on material is all memorization, plus the concepts learned earlier in the semester.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to compose a cohesive basic piece of music by the end of the semester. Expect two papers that will analyze separate concerts.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you learned an instrument before, this course is a breeze. (only memorization at the end.)

    Hours per week:

    Advice for students:

Read the textbook and go to the professor during office hours if you don't understand something.
