    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is a very dry course, and I see no meaning in memorizing information that we can just instead use as needed

    Course highlights:

Understand quickly or your getting lost

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read a head of lectures and do a lot of practice problems, and Do Not Wait For LAST Minute to study

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this class because it is not only required for most science majors but this class teaches you study methods that will be beneficial for the entirety of your collegiate career. This class is extremely difficult, demanding, and stress provoking. However, it makes you a better student. You learn to seek help, use resources, and to develop study habits that will help you.

    Course highlights:

Not only do you gain knowledge of organic chemistry and applications that will benefit you in later classes but as I said previously, you also gain the experience and knowledge to become a better student.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

For success in this class, understanding when you need help is crucial. Setting aside time daily to review material is important, whether it be reading the book or practicing problems. Practice those problems early so that you can spot where your weaknesses are and fix that before test time. This is definitely a class that you cannot cram for. If you find yourself having difficulty understanding the material, seek help sooner than later. Do not be embarrassed that the material seems difficult. It is for everyone.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Organic Chemistry was one of the greatest challenges to overcome. Nonetheless, Dr. Jackson was willing to help us overcome this challenge as well as obtain a concrete understanding of the information. The course was very involved and quite difficult, but I feel as though I am a better student after completing this course. Organic chemistry has allowed me to rectify some of my inefficient study techniques. It has also taught me to budget my time more effectively.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of Organic Chemistry was the time in class. Dr. Jackson did a marvelous job of both teaching the material and showing the application behind the material. I enjoyed diving into the chemistry behind carbon-based molecules and observing the nature of these molecules at a molecular level. It felt as though I had had a glimpse of all the interesting routes of knowledge and discovery ahead of me on my track toward a degree in Biochemistry.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

The coursework is quite intense. Therefore, the textbook should be utilized at all times. The textbook contains numerous practice problems that aid your ability and confidence to both understand and execute when test day comes along. Office hours are a must, for they can clear up any murky perceptions of the content and allow further exposure to the content. External sources for more practice problems may also provide a greater grasp of the material.
