Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Cooney made the class extremely interesting by using power points and video clips to further explain his lectures. We learned about the history of human societies from hunter-gatherers to modern industrialization.

    Course highlights:

Each day before class we were supposed to read an article or journal he would post online. In the lecture, he would discuss the piece that we read. Having two sources of information on a topic made this course much more interesting. Print all of the articles out, and highlight as you go. This makes studying for the tests much easier since they cover a significant amount of material. Getting behind makes it difficult to do well on the tests, and there are very few other chances to bring your grade up.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this course, students need to definitely read the assigned articles. Much of the tests are taken from these readings. Additionally, attending class is important. Professor Cooney often includes information that was not discussed in the readings, and this will usually end up on the test.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

He was very easy and straightforward. If you read the assignments and come to class, one night of studying will be enough for the test! His articles may seem unnecessary, but you must read them in order to do well- they account for about half of the test questions.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about Sociology through this course. I had never taken this kind of class before, but it was interesting to see how relationship closeness or distance can affect other aspects of the relationship.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would take this course over others. Re-read the articles a few days before the test because test questions are very specific.
