Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I definitely recommend this course to anyone who is interested in the french language and culture. In this course France was the focus but we also learned about other places that were colonized by the french and how they're culture and idiom differ from France. What I found most helpful was the emphasis in both conversing and writing to anyone who speaks french, better connecting oneself to the world.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of the course were the exposure to different cultures, specifically in Africa, they're issues, solutions and how they affect our everyday lives. In most french classes, France is the focus. I found that like in most languages the phonetics of french change as one travels to other countries, and that the culture is very different and intriguing, especially because as one learns about the world one can better understand it and the people who share this home with us.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to study the material that is presented in class, especially the grammar for french has many tenses and language rules that one must abide. However, I would say that the most important thing is to be open-minded. There are several topics, such as the effects of social media and everyday social dilemmas, education for example. One will be exposed to different points of views, problems and solutions and it is important to understand why such topic is an issue and why due to cultural differences the solutions are not what was expected.
