    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This HNRS course was about Great Britain in the 20th century, and I definitely recommend it. Not only is the course material extremely interesting, but the professor is also incredibly good at teaching the material and making sure everything is understood. This course was one of my favorites.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about both world wars from the perspective of the British, and I learned a lot about the Irish Civil War from the perspective of both Irish and British. Dr. Holmes also taught about the issues Great Britain had while it fought to keep India from gaining its independence from them. To help with all of these amazing historical happenings, we watched documentaries, read several books (all of which were actually really well chosen and very interesting), and had class discussions on what we thought about each matter.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this course, all you have to do is show genuine interest in the things being taught. Once you do that, the readings will become fun, and the documentaries will seem like feature films. Dr. Holmes is also very accommodating. She is willing to help you in her office hours or even after class sometimes. As long as you put in effort, the class will be great!
