    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It's a tough course and it's very time demanding; however, you learn lot. This course allows you to see how certain chemicals are formed and obtained. You will learn many lab techniques and methods of organic chemistry. You'll also get to do a lot of interesting experiments.

    Course highlights:

The Synthesis of Lidocaine (Xylocaine), Luminol, Aldol Condensation, and and Synthesis of Nylon [6, 10] experiments were pretty cool.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Look at the old labs if you want to save time and your sanity. I would recommend getting someone's lab reports, quizzes, homework, mid term, and final. This will save you in this course. Also, make sure that you get a good lab partner.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class is a really heavy work load! The lab reports are very long and require a lot of work outside of class. You also have two rather extensive homework assignments during the semester which are worth something like 15 or 20% of your grade. Almost your entire overall grade is based on the midterm and the final, so you'll need to do well on those.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot of cool experimental techniques, and my favorite experiment was Luminol.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be sure to study hard on the midterm. It's a lot harder than the final and it determines a VERY large portion of your grade.
